Build smart controls
From code to motion

For this position, a reasonable level of proficiency in the Dutch language is required.

Would you like to develop PLC software for complex machinery and also see for yourself how your software performs in practice? In this role, you work on the complete machine control process: from software design and programming to testing and commissioning.

Company information

Our client is a medium-sized technical organisation in the Bergen op Zoom region that designs and builds complex, custom-made machinery in-house. Engineering and production work closely together. Mechanical, Electrical and Automation Engineers collaborate directly with the workshop, allowing you to quickly see how your design and software perform in practice.

Vacancy information

As a Software Engineer, you are responsible for the control software of custom-built machines and technical installations. You translate technical specifications into functional software designs, develop PLC controls and visualisations, and remain involved until the machine is fully operational. This means that, in addition to programming, you are also involved in simulation, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning.

Your responsibilities:

  • Translate functional and technical specifications into software designs
  • Develop and program PLC software using modern control platforms such as CODESYS, Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff/TwinCAT, Bachmann or comparable systems
  • Develop HMIs and user-friendly machine visualisations
  • Perform simulations, bench tests and functional testing
  • Test and commission machines in the company’s own workshop and occasionally at customer locations
  • Manage software versions, design changes and technical documentation

What do we offer

  • A gross monthly salary of €4,000 to €5,800, depending on knowledge and experience
  • A generous leave allowance
  • Work on technically advanced, custom-built machines that are designed and manufactured in-house
  • Involvement throughout the complete process, from software development to testing and commissioning
  • Direct collaboration with Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and production
  • A high level of independence and plenty of opportunities to further develop your technical skills

What do you need

  • MBO+/HBO level in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering or a comparable technical field
  • Experience as a Software Engineer, PLC Engineer or Automation Engineer within machinery or industrial automation
  • Experience with one or more PLC platforms such as CODESYS, Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff/TwinCAT or Bachmann is an advantage
