Project Engineer Special Engineering / Exterior (€87K/year)

Are you ready to take responsibility for the design and realization of the most unique exterior features on luxury superyachts? We are looking for a Project Engineer Special Engineering /Exterior who will manage the technical scope of custom exterior equipment during the yacht construction phase.

Function

At our client, the discipline Special Engineering and Exterior Engineering covers two closely linked but distinct areas:

  • Special Engineering focuses on custom-built, often movable systems that make each yacht unique. This includes elements such as telescopic masts, boarding equipment, shell doors, tender cranes, and folding platforms, all tailor-engineered for functionality and design integration.
  • Exterior Engineering relates to the visible and structural outfitting on the outside of the yacht, such as railings, stairs, bollards, lighting, nameplates, flagpoles, and deck furniture. It requires coordination with design, interior, and outfitting teams to ensure seamless integration and aesthetic perfection.

Together, these disciplines ensure that the yacht’s exterior is both functional and iconic.

As Project Engineer, you are the technical lead for all special and exterior items. You ensure integration with the overall design, coordinate with specialists, and monitor progress from engineering through delivery and installation.

Your role will involve:

  • Managing the engineering scope of special/exterior systems within your project
  • Reviewing 3D models, specifications, and documentation for technical compliance
  • Coordinating with suppliers, disciplines, and production to ensure integration and feasibility
  • Acting as technical point of contact for the owner’s team and external stakeholders
  • Leading and guiding junior engineers
  • Monitoring planning, quality, and system integration on board

Requirements

  • BSc or MSc degree in technical direction
  • At least 5 years of experience in yacht or shipbuilding
  • Knowledge of complex mechanical/electromechanical systems and outfitting
  • Experience with 3D AutoCAD; Siemens NX, Cadmatic or Teamcenter is a plus
  • Strong communicator with technical insight and coordination skills
