Ergonomics Specialist

Do you have experience with implementing and validating solutions to ergonomics requirements? Are you looking for a collaboration in the Netherlands, and do you have a strong affinity with the maritime sector? We might be looking for you!

Function

As Technical Specialist Ergonomics, you will play a key role in optimizing the interaction between crew members and equipment onboard and within training environments. You will be responsible for ensuring ergonomic standards are embedded across system design, contributing directly to the safety, comfort and operational efficiency.

Specific duties in this role include:

  • Define and execute Human Factors Engineering (HFE) plans tailored to project requirements.
  • Conduct ergonomic analyses of ship systems and human-machine interactions.
  • Perform task-based assessments and derive technical design requirements.
  • Advise on workspace and equipment design to minimize crew workload and maximize usability.
  • Collaborate across engineering, project management and supply chain teams to maintain ergonomic integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Human Factors, Ergonomics, Industrial Engineering) with experience working on large-scale engineering projects.
  • Experience with hazard assessments and ergonomic standards, preferably within German regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Office, SAP, IBM DOORS or 3DX.
  • Previous experience in shipbuilding or the maritime sector is highly valued.
  • Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
