Cost Engineer

Are you interested in working on complex maritime and defence-related projects? We are looking for a Cost Engineer to support the development of competitive proposals for vessels, equipment, and maintenance activities. If you have a strong technical background and enjoy translating specifications into accurate cost estimates, this could be a great next step.

As a Cost Engineer, you will work closely with sales, proposal teams, and suppliers to develop reliable cost estimates and technical specifications. You will analyze client requirements, request and evaluate supplier quotations, and assess cost risks based on planning, technical complexity, and past project experience. Your work directly contributes to winning and executing high-value maritime and defence projects.

• Analyze client specifications (RFQs) together with proposal management
• Develop cost calculations using different costing methodologies
• Prepare clear technical specifications
• Request and evaluate quotations from suppliers
• Identify cost risks and propose alternatives
• Monitor developments in regulations, fuels, and environmental standards
• Perform post-calculations to improve cost models and processes
• Collaborate closely with planning, as sequencing impacts cost outcomes

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technical field
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Cost Engineer or Estimator in the maritime sector
• Broad understanding of ship systems is a strong advantage
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
• Proficient in Excel and Word

• Gross annual salary up to €86,000 (depending on experience).
• 40 days of leave including ADV, with the option to buy or sell additional days
