FPSO Marine System Engineer – Client Representative (130K)

Functie
For a large international FPSO newbuild project, we are looking for an experienced Marine Systems Engineer to act on behalf of the owner within the EPC contractor’s engineering team.
The position is focused on ensuring that all marine systems are designed, engineered and integrated in compliance with class, flag and owner standards. You will serve as the technical focal point for all marine-related aspects and coordinate closely with the contractor’s engineering disciplines.
You will review and monitor the design and integration of all marine systems, including ballast, bilge, firewater, HVAC, fuel oil, inert gas, and utility systems, as well as machinery spaces and hull-related interfaces.
Specific duties in this role include:
- Reviewing and approving design deliverables from the EPC contractor and subcontractors.
- Verifying compliance with class rules (ABS / DNV), SOLAS, MARPOL and project specifications.
- Participating in design reviews, HAZID and HAZOP sessions, and model reviews.
- Following up on vendor documentation and equipment selection for marine systems.
- Coordinating with process, structural, piping and safety teams to ensure design consistency.
- Providing input during construction, integration and commissioning phases.
- Supporting risk assessments and technical evaluations throughout the project lifecycle.
Voorwaarden
You have a solid background in marine systems engineering for floating production or offshore units and are confident operating in a client environment, representing the owner’s technical interests while maintaining a constructive working relationship with the contractor.5+ years in yacht or shipbuilding management.
- BSc or MSc in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in marine systems design for offshore or shipbuilding projects.
- Experience with FPSO, FSO or FLNG projects is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of class and statutory regulations (DNV, ABS, IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL).
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Organisatie
You will be part of the owner’s project team for a major FPSO newbuild program, working in close collaboration with the EPC contractor responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction. The engineering activities are primarily based in the Netherlands, although certain project phases may take place abroad.
