Are you a skilled Automation Engineer seeking fresh career prospects? A prominent marine shipbuilding company is presently in search of a Team Lead Automation.

Function

As the Team Lead for Automation, your role encompasses overseeing the automation aspect of engineering in our projects. Your responsibilities include participating in the initial (proposal) phase to establish a robust work breakdown and task planning structure for the discipline. Additionally, you will lead a team of (Senior) Automation Engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of engineering outputs during project execution. Your ultimate accountability lies in achieving the desired quality, meeting deadlines, and reporting to the Project Manager Engineering.• Guiding a small or medium-sized Electrical & Automation engineering team throughout the project’s execution.

Specific duties in this role include:

  • Mentoring the Automation engineering team to align with internal standards and practices.
  • Developing comprehensive work breakdown structures and allocating both labor and cost budgets.
  • Providing the Project Manager Engineering with high-quality engineering deliverables within specified timeframes.
  • Supervising vendors and subcontractors to ensure their punctual contributions to the project. Arranging design assessments and reviews to maintain the desired quality.
  • Validating the technical performance of vendors and subcontractors.
  • Conducting technical assessments of received proposals in close collaboration with the Purchase department.
  • Overseeing and managing the man-hour budget while delivering progress reports to the Project Manager Engineering.
  • Coordinating technical support and commissioning activities for the project.
  • Ensuring full adherence to all relevant requirements and specifications set by class and the customer.

Requirements

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Technical Automation, or a relevant technical field
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in designing (complex) electrical and automation systems, with a preference for experience in marine, offshore, or industrial settings.
  • Proven ability to thrive in extensive project environments with a high level of complexity, including leadership experience with engineering teams of up to 10 members.
  • Demonstrated competence in collaborating with and managing third-party vendors and subcontractors.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to structure work packages and ensure their execution aligns with contracted timelines and labor/cost budgets.
  • Familiarity with working on class-regulated products and adherence to Good Engineering Practices, with a focus on quality and budget consciousness.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential, and knowledge of the German language is advantageous.
